일본의 장인 정신, 무사도라는 사무라이 정신을 높이 산적도 있었다. 그러나 아직도 제국주의 시대에 머물러 있는 과거사에 대한 인식, 정부가 사법부를 총괄해야 한다는 삼권 분립에 잘못된 인식, 계보 정치를 통한 집권 여당의 장기 집권 등 정치, 사회가 정체되어 있는 느낌이다.

 

또한, 일본의 잃어버린 20년은 경제뿐만 아니라 사회 전반에 영향을 주었던 것 같다. 이와 반대로, 우리의 정신문화는 그들과 다른 역동적인 민족성을 바탕으로 시민 의식이 발전해 가고 있는 모습이다.
