미국, 홍콩과 범죄인 인도조약 중단 - 국가보안법의 자치권 침해 우려 본문
미국은 중국에서 홍콩에 새로운 국가보안법을 시행함에 따라, 그 자치권의 침해를 우려로 그동안 미국에서 홍콩에 부여하였던 특별 지위권 (Since its handover from Britain to China in 1997, Hong Kong has enjoyed a special trade and security status with the United States, predicated on the financial hub's high degree of autonomy from Beijing.) 을 중단하기로 결정했다.
당초 중국 정부로부터 자치권을 누리면서 아시아의 금융허브로서 역할을 즐겨왔으나, 캐나다, 호주, 프랑스, 독일, 영국 등이 이 특별 지위를 취소할 경우, 어떤 영향이 있을 까? 당장은 중국 자본이 대체할 수 있기 때문에 큰 변화는 없을 것으로 예상하지만, 그 위상은 약화될 수밖에 없을 것이라는 전망이다.
